Abbie vs. Mr. Monk
One of Abbie’s most favorite pastimes is to chase “Mr. Monk” (aka one of our many chipmonks) off the deck. It seems like they deliberately run in front of her as they try to get at the bird seed which spills from the feeders and the grain we feed the mallard ducks who swim by on the lake. She enjoys watching the ducks waddle up the lawn to eat their food and likes to bark at the red squirrels who also like the duck food. This year we have about six or eight Canada geese who hang out on the lake in front of our house and then of course, there are the loons, who cry out their harmonic songs on the water. All in all, Abbie enjoys the warm weather on the porch and deck guarding her property from all these other “guests”. The June bugs are out now (besides the black flies which like to bite her on her eyelids) and she doesn’t seem to care for them too much. She tries to sniff them out but since they are pretty aggressive bugs, they go right after her nose but she quickly jumps back when they do that. Right now she’s on the couch on the porch, enjoying the loon’s serenade after a hard day at the office. Oh, to be Princess Abbie!
