Sarah Palin: Rational, Repsonsible and Realistic
The most unfortunate shooting attack of Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords and 13 others and the 6 people killed, is the product of a likely psychotic individual who was able to act out on his command hallucinations, delusions, or a combination of both. Based on what I have read, the media has described the alleged attacker as “deranged” with a history of bizarre behaviors. This senseless action will have far-reaching effects for many Representatives, their families and for the American people. If this alleged attacker is diagnosed with Schizophrenia, where does the paranoia end? This serious mental illness is characterized as a “thought disorder” with symptoms of paranoid, persacutory and grandiose delusions, and hallucinations. Most of the time, these patients never act out on their thoughts as many symptoms can be controlled by medications. Also, most people with Schizophrenia are typically less violent and more fearful than the “average” non-Schizophrenic. Will this attack produce enough reactionary paranoia against the American public that there will be more infringements on our Rights, and more efforts toward gun control?
As foolish as a paranoid reaction would be, what is even more foolish by many orders of magnitude, is to suggest that Sarah Palin is to blame for this attack. Really now, I knew the Far Left Liberals were desperate, but these remarks show just how desperate they are. Rather than condemning this attack as the work of an unstable young man, they seek to place blame on a woman because her ideologies and goals differ from theirs. Doesn’t this rather sound delusional too? I can’t wait to hear what Sarah Palin’s response is to these irresponsible comments.
Even though this horrific attack needs to be investigated and prosecuted, as Americans we need to be more vigilant that the unfortunate actions of someone with a documented psychiatric history does not predict that all Americans would act so violently. Opponents of the Tea Party are looking for ways to associate instability with Tea Party supporters. To attempt to associate violence with Sarah Palin and the Tea Party is either paranoid thinking or downright manipulativeness, either of which is pathological. Since when does an ideology based on the Constitution suggest irrationality and aggression? The problem with this recent attack is that a person who never should have been allowed to purchase a weapon was able to do so. Tens of millions of people own handguns responsibly and safely. When a person with a questionable history tries to purchase a handgun, how was it that the government agency that is supposed to screen gun purchase permits allowed this attacker to purchase a handgun? Will failures in government agencies which are supposed to protect us result in fewer freedoms for us? Is this the promise of bigger government?

Palin stepped into it again yesterday by announcing that she is headlining a hunting convention. Like she says, “Don’t retreat, reload.” One thing for sure, a lot of rural America stands behind her. She has momentum but I doubt she has enough public skills to win a primary, much less the presidency. She does provide good material for Saturday Night Live though.

I use Akismet. There is a small fee but it is worth it to not have hundreds of spammers a day! You can find it on Google.
