About Dr. Virginia

As a licensed Psychologist practicing Cognitive therapy, I help people identify the emotional and motivational issues that prevent them from achieving a healthier, happier, and longer life. I have been in private practice since 1992, working with individuals, families, and corporate clients. I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. I have extensive training and experience in Psychopharmacology and nutritional supplements, enabling me to work closely with other medical providers to facilitate treatment goals.
It has been my experience that in today’s fast-paced world people have so many work, family and personal obligations, that they very often do not make the time to take care of their own emotional needs. Psychological, nutritional and lifestyle concerns are often given a low priority, ranking below jobs, family and social commitments. It has been scientifically proven that emotional health is a necessary prerequisite for physical health. Ignoring emotional issues decreases motivation for self-care and will not only create unhappiness and distress, but will eventually lead to medical problems.
My treatment philosophy is that I believe that everyone has the desire to optimize his or her lifestyle and health but many times we encounter obstacles on the way to self-improvement. Sometimes we place those stumbling blocks there ourselves, and other times people or situations present us with impediments to positive change. Those barriers to self-change can’t be ignored for very long before a health crisis occurs. Learning how to Balance your lifestyle and choices is the first step in the transformational process to better physical, emotional and spiritual health. Let me help you discover how to awaken your motivation to begin this exciting journey to toward a more fulfilled life!
